The joy is still with us- barely. Eastern Cottontails: The males and females will cavort, or chase each other, race, run and sometimes fight as part of their mating ritual. Most of us older folk fondly remember catching fireflies

there is now a disease of rabbits in Europe and western US devastating the rabbit population.
Firefly Larvae are particularly vulnerable because they spend up to two years below ground or under water, where insecticide concentrations tend to be high. Light pollution also plays havoc with them, making it hard to find their mates. Whether car headlights or dusk to dawn lights, Light pollution is harmful to many night creatures.
